How To Install A cheap Home Security System:

Go to a second-hand store and buy a pair of men’s work boots size 14-16 (used)
Place them in the front porch, along with a copy of Gun And Ammo Magazine.
Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine
Leave a note on your door that reads

Hey Bubba,

Big Jim, Duke, Slim, and I gone for more ammunition.

Will be back in one hour. Don’t mess with the pit bulls– they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don’t think Killer took part in it, but it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all of the dog’s in the house. Better Just wait outside until we can get back.

Here’s the deal though, i have a home security system that is network capable, but my router is 1 floor below it and the security system is NOT WiFi capable!! I do not wish to run a hundred-some-odd foot in length of cable through my house. Is there some type of access point i can configure to connect to my home network while also acting as a router/switch so i can connect my security system to it?

    Thanks for the help!

i did consider a 2nd computer but i was hoping for something simpler. For example, a wireless access-point with a built in switch/router i can put next to the security box and plug in, while the access-point is connected with my home network wirelessly. Im not sure if such a device exists, im currently googleing it.
My security system IS the DVR.
The system has an ethernet port to connect to a homenetwork. So i can view footage and so on from a PC on my network.

The only way i can put it to sound a little more simple would be, Ive got a stationary computer i want to add to my network. The router is wireless but in another room. The computer in question has an ethernet port but is not wifi capable and adding wifi capabilities to the computer is out of the question.
